Joining Roskill Swim Club

The Roskill Swim Club year commences on 1 July and annual subscriptions are due at this time. Prospective club members are welcome to join part-way through the year with fees and subscriptions apportioned accordingly.

Competitive Programmes

The competitive squads are accelerated programmes for athletes who would like to:

  • Take their swimming to competition level
  • Increase their competitive skills
  • Athletes who dream of one day representing New Zealand at the Olympic Games.

The club membership subscriptions comprise the following fees:

  • Roskill Swim Club annual registration fee of .
  • Swimming New Zealand (SNZ) and Auckland Swimming Association (ASA) annual subscriptions of .
  • Professional coaching subscription with monthly fees dependent on squad membership (please contact us for details).

Swimmers participating in the competitive swim programmes belong to one of the squads below depending on ability. Being a competitive swimmer gives athletes the opportunity to compete on a regular basis against swimmers of similar ability from other swimming clubs. The Roskill Swimming Club competitive squads are as follows:

  • Development Squad: For swimmers new to competitive swimming. This squad aims to develop technique and get swimmers ready for competing. Swimmers need to be committed to attending 2+ swim training sessions per week, ASL competition, Level 3 swim meets and club camps.
  • Bronze Squad: Swimmers in this squad will be Level 3 swimmers aiming to qualify for Level 2. The qualifying standard is typically 100+ FINA points. Swimmers need to be committed to attending 3+ swim training sessions and 1 dryland training session per week, ASL competition, NZ Juniors and Level 3 swim meets and club camps. Bronze swimmers will also be aiming to achieve medals at Auckland Junior championships and qualify for NZ Junior Championships.
  • Silver Squad: Swimmers gain entry to this squad by coach selection. The qualifying standard is typically 300+ FINA points in multiple events. Swimmers will be committed to attending 6+ swim training sessions, 1 gym session and 1 yoga session per week. They will also be committed to attending Division II and National Championships, completing food diaries, and attending club camps. Swimmers will be aiming to achieve medals and finals at NZ Division II Championships and qualifying for National Championship Meets.
  • Gold Squad: Swimmers gain entry to this squad by coach selection. The qualifying standard is typically 500+ FINA points in multiple events. Swimmers will be committed to attending 8+ swim training sessions, 2 gym sessions and 1 yoga session per week. They will also be committed to attending National and Open Championships, completing food diaries, and attending club camps. Swimmers will be aiming to achieve multiple medals and finals at National Championships, a final at Open Championships and qualifying for Youth Teams and Championships and NZ regional camps.
  • Platinum Squad: Swimmers gain entry to this squad by coach selection. The qualifying standard is typically 700+ FINA points in multiple events. Swimmers will be committed to attending 10+ swim training sessions, 3 gym sessions and 1 yoga session per week. They will also be committed to attending National Open and Championships, completing food diaries, and attending club camps. Swimmers will be aiming to achieve multiple medals and finals at National and Open Championships and qualifying for International teams and championships.

Non-competitive Programmes

The club also offers a Multi-Sport programme for our non-competitive swimmers. This caters to the following groups:

  • Swimmers transitioning from swim-school who are interested in an introduction to a competitive swim style swim programme.
  • Swimmers interested in progressing their swimming to meet personal goals around school swimming sports and the like.
  • Swimmers wanting swim training for other sports, for example, surf lifesaving, water polo, triathlon, and ocean swimming.

Swimmers participating in the Multisport programme can train one to three times per week. Sessions are available Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings and Monday and Thursday evenings. All training programmes are delivered by professional swim coaches and each programme is overseen by the club's Director of Coaching.

Multi-sport squad swimmers pay a term fee for professional coaching fee which includes the Roskill Swim Club registration fee. Multi-sport training programmes are not available during the school holidays.
